Icon4 Why is my fuel gauge slow?

2000 Civic DX Sedan

anyway, whenever i get near to E on the fuel gauge, when i accelerate the needle goes straight to E but when decel, it goes back up to where it was before. And when i do refill the tank, when i start the car it takes forever for the needle to go from E to F

last thing is my Low Gas Light does not come on period...fuse maybe?

search!
civics dont have baffles in there tanks thats why it moves when you accle.
as for it taking a long time you might need a new sending unit.
check the light.
i have a 98 dx and the light doesnt come on till the red line, are u on the red line??

My 94 does the same thing but there's nothing wrong when you have low fuel and you accel your fuel moves in the tank, affecting the sensor, if you notice next time you take a sharp turn glance at your gauge, odds are it'll either say you have more or less fuel then you do. Your fuel gauge is best read at a stand still.

You refill and it. Just takes time. It's normal. The gauge doesnt just pop up to full.

And lastly you should look into it and check if your car actually has a low fuel light I know a lot of them don't.

Nothing is wrong with your car, those symptoms are normal for a Civic.

As Josh already touched upon, I remember reading that a lot of the American-market Civics don't have gas lights at all...I'm not sure which ones they are though...

damn. i am going to check on mine. but my dad's old 2000 dx had a light.

and if you dont want to see your needle go all slow when you turn on the car, do what i do.
leave your keys in the ignition WITH THE CAR OFF, turn the keys to ON(car still off) and leave it. then gas up. the needle will go up as you fill your tank

well then like 98 civicdx said. you more than likely have a blown bulb.
you should take out your cluster and change it. and while your at it, change the bulb color to amber or what ever color you prefer

Good idea. Usually the water pump and tensioner are replaced at the same time, as well.
