Well is pretty much what the title stated my car shakes a lot when I put it on drive or reverse or when it's in a full stop and holding the brakes it shakes aggressively even the dash shakes but if I put it in park it stops. I want some ideas on what it can be any opinions are welcome I just want to know what it is and I doubt that the spark plugs are the problem. Oh by the way my car is a 97 civic LX automatic with a D16y7 engine. Thanks for anyones help

sounds like a bad motor mount. look to see if the rubber on any of your mounts is torn, cracked or just not there

That sounds possible I didn't think of that I will check that first thing tomorrow thanks Any more ideas in case that isn't it?

What about in neutral, instead of park? It could be like 10 different things; however, due to the face that this only happenes when you are in gear i would check your motor mounts like bbs stated, if that is not it then I would also try the transmission. Technically when your car is running whether it is in park or drive the engine is obviously working; thus, it sounds like when you engauge a gear your car shakes and when you aren't engauged it is fine, correct?

All in all, we can just do what we can to narrow it down...up

maybe a torque converter problem, but that's a big maybe. i would put my money on a bad mount

Yes, your correct only when the gear is engaged well I haven't tried it on neutral yet will check that out. The transmission was rebuilt less than 2 months ago so I don't think that's the problem cause it runs smooth. I'll check the mounts tomorrow like bbsprelude said. Yeah basically that's what I'm trying to do with this thread is to narrow down the things that might cause it to shake.

well sometimes when things get rebuilt they only last a little bit if some specs or clearances were off. As stated before though, I'd check mounts first
