Where is the transmission filter on a 1998 Honda Civic EX?
I changed the fluid not too long ago, but could not find a filter, just the drain plug. I was told by a parts supplier that they do not have filters. This sounds odd. Is this true? If not, can someone post pics of where the filter is and how to remove it? Thanks!!

I saw the same thing, but there is no pan. I read on another site that they don't have a filter, that it is basically internal. Thanks!

I am assuming yall are taking about a manual. From my years of wrech turning I have never seen a manual of any make/model domestic/import that has a "pan" or uses a filter. there may be one out there but I doubt it.
Now automatics do have filters, atleast chevy dodge and ford do. I assume all others do because of the clutch discs wearing

Even working for the Honda dealer, there was no tranny filter to change, just remember to do your fluids when scheduled.

I've worked parts counters for several years and I don't remember anyone coming in for an automatic transmission filter for a Honda and finding that the car did have a serviceable filter. The part, when looked up, always had a listing saying it was not a serviceable part.
Also, if you look on a site like hondaautomotiveparts.com or hondapartsdeals.com you can see all the images they would see at Honda's parts counter. These images are sort of exploded views of the entire car, section by section.
Both sites also have the stock part numbers listed.
