how can i tell if my b16a2 came out of a 2000 civic si?

if it has no vins, its safe to assume that it is/was since the a2 was only offered in the em1, youre good

Check the head manufacture date, it should be able to narrow it down a little, at least giving you the date the head was cast. Should be 3 circles cast into the head above the exhaust manifold.

I'm in Canada, my 2000 EM1 has a VIN on the tranny And as someone else mentioned, the cast of the head has a production date stamped on it that should read late 08 to about late 2000 if it's an Si

The pre 1996 DOHC VTEC sols were B16A3 while the post 1996 sols were B16A2.

It's true. '93-'94 del Sol VTECs came with the B16A3 and '96-'97 del Sol VTECs came with the B16A2.

OP, do you have a VIN at the bottom edge of the front of the block?

If your motor is a B16A2 and it's from the states, it's from an EM1.
