I think he meant the location... if i remember right its between the intake manifold runners. Should be a hose that connects to the intake manifold itself.

From the above diagram I'd have to say # 2 is the PCV valve. #6 looks like one also ???? wtf
If these valves plug up enough it can cause rough idle, running, = effects gas milage

No..... I said # 2 is the PCV valve. It's location with a rubber grommet into a breather box is the norm. # 6 is in question since I have never seen two inline PCV's on a vehicle. And if you don't want to believe me about rough idle and running thats fine too !
Did a look-up. # 2 is PCV Valve - # 6 is a PVC Joint. Maybe you can light it and smoke it ? Someone here will know if and why there are two of them.
next ?

Get under your car and take off the oil filter. Look above where it was and there is a black box. On the left side the box there will a black house connected to it. Take a long flathead screwdriver, and pry the what looks like a grommet. Once its free go up top and pull the hose through the Intake Manifold. Now you can see what you have. Could be an inline, but im thinkin its acually at the end of the line. Once you get the new one in, feed the hose back down, and plug it back in. Finish the oil change and start her up. Check for leaks as always and your done.

can you change it without doing an oil change? or will oil start shooting out?

IF crud is found at the top part of the black hose where the pcv inserts, how does one remove the crud and how can the black box be checked for damage or does it also need removal.
