HELP, STARTER ISSUE**************************
Hi, well my car wont start. i get nothign but clicking sounds. not the battery, i replaced the starter with two news ones, get the same problem. my machanic says there is 12 v running to the starter for power. the solinod inside the starter opens but it wont turn, it wont cranck the car, niether of the three starters worked. anyone have any thoughts. all is it does is make a clicking sound, the speedo jumps back and forth will the key is turned in teh start postion.

That's a weird problem. Sounds like something else is wrong. Try to turn the motor over by hand (BIG socket on the crank bolt) and see if it goes relativly easy.

thanks for the bumps, im able to pop start it with the clutch, so i know the motor runs. someone tried to tell me about a voltage regulation box or something that comes off the distrubtor? never knew something like that existed?

Well, if your mechanic was good, then he would know that 12v being present on the starter terminal does NOT mean it will be present when you actually try to start up....meaning, if you've got a bad ground, this will cause a pretty severe voltage drop, which takes away available voltage for the starter.
So aside from cleaning up the grounds, the next step would be some voltage drop tests on the starter cables.

well we did a voltage test when i turn the key, still has 12v. not to sure on other stuff. the grounds are all good.

If you've tried 3 starters and everything else is fine I'd start tracing it from the ignition switch.
