Default Is this a Wheel Bearing problem?

While driving my car for the past 2 weeks, i noticed this clanky sound that comes from the right front wheel well when I take left turns. Today when I went to school I think my tire(right front) scraped my wheel well when I made a left turn. My car is lowered on H-Tech Tein's (1.25 in) but I never had this problem before. The sound it makes, makes me believe its the wheel bearing but would that cause the scraping?

Could be.

Have you tried actually looking at the car?

I gave it a quick visual inspection before going into class tonight, but it was sitting at the right height. What exactly am I looking for?

a cv joint would give you a clunking. i may also have a wheel bearing problem too. my car squeeks when i turn left and when i go straight. cant see any signs of rubbing.

my car made a clunking sound when i made left turns and made a howling sound when driving straight. found out i had a bad right front wheel bearing.

a good way to be sure is to remove the caliper from the hub, seperate the tie rod and remove the axle from the hub. now your bearing is isolated. turn it by hand. if it binds or sounds like **** replace it. also check for heat damage on your axle splines. depending on how long you've been driving on this bad bearing, your hub could be damaged.

I recently replaced a bad wheel bearing. It sounded like a grinding sound when I made any sort of slight left turn.

You can check by lifting up the car, grab the top and bottom of the wheel/tire and shake it to see if it jiggles.

I guess I have to take it to the shop cuz i don't have a press that I'll need to install bearing. Can someone give me an estimate of what this will cost to have one bearing put in. I was also considering putting a new axle on the right front. I was going to do this myself, so all I need is one passenger side axle that I can get at pepboys for about 70 bucks, right? Do I need anything else for this replacement like CV joint or is that on the new axle. Sorry to ask so many questions in one post, I'm limited in trial mode.

a bad strut can also do this.

Wheel bearing won't be cheap if the shop has to do all the work. Since you don't have a press you can take the assembly (I'm blank on what it's called right now) and take it in to a shop and have them remove/install the bearing. And just replace the axle at the same time since you're gonna have it all apart anyways.

yes, the axle is all you need for parts. CV joint is part of the axle

I think I'm going to switch out the strut first because if its causing my tire to rub thats sign of a bad strut. ANyway I was wondering if I could use my stock strut with my car lowered on H-techs Teins. I'm on a limited budget, too.

I just went out and did the wheel bearing test. My tire spins freely and sounds fine. It can't be an axle cuz it would drive like crap all the time. So it's gotta be a shock right?? I just can't imagine how a shock could go out after only 2 years. Wouldn't the think have to leak or blow apart to not work. Hell, It's a pneumatic (or hydraulic), theres not that many parts inside it that can go wrong. WTF

p.s. they're dropzone shocks
