I reckon alot of them are for "show" but I guess it does serve a purpose on the tracks too...

There was just a long thread on this topic. There are already tow hooks on all cars, having a racing hook doesn't make it that much easier to steal, I mean look at a sol, hatch, coupe, etc. you can see the rear tow hook easily.

I just love when people mount their aftermarket tow hooks to easily bent places, hahaha
when you have a car that is lowered ALOT and its sitting in the dirt on the side of the track, its kind of hard to get underneath the car to tow it, therefore you have tow hooks
