Default What's the difference (EX, DX, LX)?

What's the difference between the trims EX, DX, and LX (especially on the year 2000)? Is the difference in the exterior or interior or both? Do body kits for the EX fit the DX and LX?

1: you dont want a body kit, it destroys the car

Ex have the vtec d16y8, LX and DX have the lesser D16's (d16y7)

Ex 127hp @ crank, maybe 100 at the wheels with OEM mounts, Comes in 2/4dr (sedan had crome trim around the windows).

4dr Ex- Sun roof, AC, tails are shaped a little different than the LX, rear bumper is shaped different , All trims change from 96-98 vs 99-00

You probably want the EX, do NOT touch that body kit, put on a front lip of some sort, and a rear lip (esp EX's) if its a 4dr, grab the trim off a DX because its flat rubbery black. interior ill be a little different depending on color.

There is thousands of other tiny things which im not gonna list, because I dont even know if you have the car, or if its a 2dr, or 4dr, or even a hatch.

Body kits, bumpers and sideskirts all are interchangeable for:

1 - '96-'98 coupe/sedan
2 - '99-'00 coupe/sedan
3 - '96-'00 hatch

ALL '96-'98 SEDAN TAILLIGHTS ARE SHAPED THE SAME.

ALL '99-'00 SEDAN TAILLIGHTS ARE SHAPED THE SAME.

ALL '96-'00 COUPE TAILLIGHTS ARE SHAPED THE SAME.

ALL '96-'00 HATCH TAILLIGHTS ARE SHAPED THE SAME.

For the coupe and hatch the taillights are red/amber/white for '96-'98 and red/white for '99-'00.

PLEASE stop spreading misinformation about the tailights.

EX (with the SOCH VTEC D16Y8) is the fully loaded model for the sedan. It will have a moonroof, power locks and windows, a tachometer and all fully painted trim on the exterior (besides sideskirts).

This post from another thread will help describe some of the base differences between all the 6th gen Civic trims.

I was speaking of rear bumpers (just was recently posting in another thread about rears and got confused). And I'm not a dude.

All '96-'00 coupe and sedan rear bumpers are interchangeable. All '96-'00 rear bumpers are interchangeable.

All '96-'98 coupe, sedan and hatch front bumpers are interchangeable. All '99-'00 coupe, sedan and hatch front bumpers are interchangeable.

The follow is all for a 1999-2000 Civic EX Sedan:

So...I don't want a body kit? Because I was thinking on a C West front bumper with a Buddy Club rear bumper and Evo III side skirts. And a OEM Spoiler and Tail lights without the Amber. Just Red and White like the coupe.

And all coupe lips fit on sedan lips? And it doesn't matter what trim? Or year between 99 and 00?

you get a kit, you will hate your life, your car WILL be kicked in by haters, the law will tell you its a no-no, but you like it.

and nofx, all sedan tails are shaped the same for 96-98, but the 99-00 are different, i think ive seen 2 variables.

And the rear lip:

Do I need side lips or what ever they're called?

Will putting these rims with stock tires and maybe dropped look perfect? If so with the drop, how much do you think it should be dropped?

They are Rota Attack rims:

Also, I wanted to put this kind of performance muffler but will it fit in the opening of the rear lip?

if it doesn't than you can make it fit by adjusting the hangers so it doesn't rub against the lip

Dont waste your time, those mufflers dont sound great on stock piping. Get a real exhaust system. Also, those wheels look to be 5-lug, all civics 92-00 are 4-lug (unless modified to 5-lug.

*sigh*

Of course. Several peopel were saying that different trims from '96-'98 had different style taillights for the sedans though, which is wrong. I was saying all '96-'98 sedans have the same damn taillights. Of course the '99-'00 taillights are different from the '96-'98, but there is only one style in the US for the '99-'00 sedans.

Like I said in the other thread and here, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.

'96-'98 SEDAN TAILLIGHTS ARE ALL THE SAME.

'99-'99 SEDAN TAILLIGHTS ARE ALL THE SAME.
