If money is not a problem get a b18c. If it was so great honda would have done it.

not exactly, it involves much more than normal production limits..i think Honda knew what they were doing by allowing the casts to be about the same

untill i did the research on it.
It is a very good and very reliable setup.
ls/vtec is a very good setup, quite expensive for some folks, but very nice.

Not to be judgemental. But if youre askin whether you should go with b16a2 or ls/vtec, you should read a little more. I have a b16 in my eg. It hasnt caused a whole lot of problems, it is a good engine for a daily driver. However, if you got the $ to spend on an engine go LS/vtec or better yet, b20 vtec. The b16 isnt even on the same level as those engines. If you are a beginner, like me, the b16 is a great engine, and later on you can get a b20 block, and build from there. Just MHO. Good luck in whichever route you choose to take.

This is a strange comparison. An LS/VTEC is of course gonna be better then a b16a2. It takes the strengths of both engines (b18a/b & b16a) and combines them. Its got the displacement and durability of the LS bottom end and the high reving DOHC Vtec of the b16a. Matched up to the b16a's tranny and built properly the victor is clear. Just make sure you do the job right. Who ever called it the "poor mans" type R probably ended up breaking his.. its gonna take money and time to get yours working right, and if done right, it should be reliable. My .02

jnghiem005 would you like to have a motor that lasts about 40,000 miles or upwards of 100,000 miles?

b16 all the way man!! All I ever here is "go ls/vtec, if its built right it will be better" , but please find me a person with a "built right ls/vtec" with over 20k miles on it.....you probably couldnt find one......perhaps because its a engine put together by regular people and not engineers...!!! i would invest on the b16 and invest on some agressive cams and pistons and you will have a safe, reliable, strong engine.

if u do ls/vtec than u should make sure that u change the oil pump too otherwise the ls/vtec aint going to last more thatn a few months. but if u like to rev i would go b16 i rev to 9500k all day long!!!!! they are both good.

CONGRATS! on your "built right" ls/vtec but thats one successful setup out of 100 that go sh*ty everyday. again this is my opinion only, but if your running a everyday street car i would go b16
