Default what octane fuel is recomended

What octane fuel is recomended for a 01 stock 1.7 VTEC. The owners manuel says anything higher than 86 octane. Would it be worth it (performance wise/good running) puting in medium grade or high grade fuel?

if the manual says "anything higher than 86"

then you probably dont really have to put in anything more than 86

87 or 89 would be fine. Just stick to one type of gas tho

don't buy into the hype that the higher the octane the better the performance. just stick to the recommended octane and you'll be fine.

I agree. Follow the owners manual and use regular (87 octane). With the current price of gas, even regular is damn expensive.
