What is this garbage? Rust
Okay I cannot figure out what this is or why it is happening. I may upload a picture of it in a bit, but basically I just replaced my rear drum brakes last week, including the drum cover, that big 10 pound dish. Well, now there are bright orange splotches all over it like somebody splashed paint on it. It almost seems like fresh rust! But how is that even possible? I just replaced them last week, and the orange splotches rub off if you rub at them with your finger. Also, i just put new chrome lug nuts on TWO DAYS AGO from summit racing, and where the tire iron chips the corners of the lugs you get that same orange color! What the heck? What is this stuff and why is it happening?
Once again I will try to upload pics of it in a bit.

I'm guessing you didn't do well in science classes not to be able to recognize rust when you see it. Can't speak to the quality of the merchandise you purchased but you might want to start looking there. Maybe invest in some high temp paint for the drums and better lugs.

Summit Racing, as far as I know, is not a store, but rather a parts manufacturer. From everybody I've talked to they make great off roading, road racing, snowmobiling, etc parts.
I still do have a can of caliper paint, I may give that a shot. Except its red, and its gonna look really retarded....
And I did excellent in science. I was the only person ever to graduate from my high school in SIX semesters and recieve TEN separate As in science courses.

Summit Racing is a store, and a "manufacturer", in as far as they sell stuff that was made by someone else, with their name on it.
You have chips in your lug nuts because they aren't solid chrome, they're chrome plated, and you damaged them. Now the bare metal is rusting. Brake drums rust. Stuff rusts, it happens. If you don't like it, spray your drums with some high temp paint, and either be more careful with your lug nuts, or get solid nuts.
