Re: What does it mean when people say "rice" (1996_civic_Coupe)
Rice has been thrown around so much that it now means different things to different people. Some people look at any modified import and call it rice. Some people look at anything with bodykits and big wings and call it rice. Some people call JDM rice.
When it comes down to it, rice is putting money into looks and having no performance to back it up. In my opinion, if a car is JDM styled and has a stock d16 under the hood, it is rice. If there is a car with a big wing and a body kit but it has a boosted GSR - I wouldn't consider it rice because it actually has something to power it. It definitely wouldn't be my kind of style, but I wouldn't deem it "rice."

i dont care if its bone stock or pushing 800whp, but if it's got aftermarket altezza tails/big wing/ lambo doors/dubs/underglow, it's rice to me.
but if it's got some decent styling to it, i.e lip, slammed to the ground on some decent looking rims, even if it's bone stock, then to me it's fine and a good looking car.
My buddy has a bone stock miata that's on megan coils, slammed to the cround, on sportmax 002s that are 15" x 8" and have 0 offset, plus a hardtop. Oh yeah, and it is bone stock. It is one sick as hell looking car, just a little on the slow side....but it's definitely a track monster.

hahahahahahaha
i'm pretty sure everyone has had a "ricer" stage.
Mine was a little more mellow...but when I was in my ricer stage, I drilled tiny holes in my stock airbox (when my civic WAS bone stock and automatic) to make it a little louder....lol [freak]in stupid...
but now, the same civic is b16a3 swapped, converted to 5 speed, and boosted at 8psi and STILL LOOKS BONE STOCK lol.

rice, although meaning body kits, altezzas, etc... also comes from the fact that rice is widely grown in japan.. so when someone says "rice" you immediately think of a japanese import. just my $.02
