What is the black EVAP Canister for?
Hey I am working on diagnosing an idle issue and I was just wondering out of curiosity the purpose of the black evap canister located to the right of the battery under the fuel filter?
Im asking cause i still have it hooked up to the manifold and the purge sensor and i heard this can mess up your idle if your boosted?
thanks for any info

im running hondata and in some part throttle cruising conditions the car will act like its not getting any throttle at all and then it will all the sudden get the throttle, causing a bucking sort of situation...
I heard that this could be related to HONDATA + EVAP ? Anybody hear of this?

oh im using obd1 p28, 450dsms, yeah i didint know if there was a sensor i just know i have the canister and am trying to rule out all possible causes of this weird issue....
Maybe the partial throttle map needs a better tune? It works fine most of the time, but then out of the blue it will do like i said, bogging/not reading tps at partial throttle cruising....
any ideas whatelse could cause this?

Re: (turbotime)
BUMP!!! I got the same "bucking" thing going on...its only at partial throttle tho. I also do not have my EVAP Canister hooked up. Was also wondering if this could be the effect of a bad TPS.

My guess is you need more tuning.. or running to rich fouling out plugs. too much timing or too little timing.. also weather change also has an effect on how your car run's Winter time my car runs like a low 13 easily. soo many different things could play a roll in that

yeah, when it does it the a/f's on the narrowband arent effected, its always around 14.1-14.5, and in boost in in the 12s....
I would think if it were real rich it would go rich on teh narrowband...i know its not wideband but it still gives me a lil idea of what is going on in there...
If it were in the timing wouldnt it occur consistently? It happens sporadically, sometimes not at all, sometimes just in the beginning of driving then it goes away, or sometimes it lasts til i turn the car off and on again...

Narrowband isnt even close to accurate as a wideband. cause according to my Narrowband before i tuned i was at 14.3 AFR. I put my wideband in and i was at 12:1. Narrowbands are junk IMO
well it could deal with where you live. alot of heat and humidity, or cold and alot of humidity. speeds, ECT , IAT ect soo many factors
