Welding cracked exhaust manifold?
I've got a large crack in my exhaust manifold and was wondering if there was any reason why I couldn't just weld it with a stick welder?
I did a search and found some info on a honda emission warrenty but I'm not sure if my car is covered. My car's a 95 si. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

It's going to be tough to get it closed up and have it stay that way. It's cast iron I believe, and welding cast iron is a bitch. I would pick up a D series header for around 150 bucks or so used on here and save yourself the time and effort of welding up a stock mani.

you can buy cast iorn welding rods from a welding supply shop
i am a welder and i have welded cast iorn many times without failure
it just takes a little practice and if you have any welding experience you should have no problem welding it up, but like someone else said just go buy a cheap header and be done with it

Thanks for the replies. My honda's close to 200k so probably no emission warranty.
Any recommendations for a cheap header?

DC Sports Ceramic Coated 4-2-1. I had that on my Y7 and loved it. I got it for about 150 here in the classifieds. Keep your eyes open and you can find some killer deals.

Does anyone know if this would be a bad idea or not?

Spend the extra money on the real DC. I for one like the one peice design (even though you have to pull the whole thing if you need to drop the oil pan) and the welds on that thing are probobally crapola.
