Default Water temp gauge UP and Down

Hi i'm new to this site. And i join because i want to learn more things about car's . I don't want to pay more in the work shop haha LOL.

Anyway, i owned a Civic EG5 "Dohc ZC" and i got few question about my car.

My water temp gauge is sometimes is on the middle "which is the normal temp" but sometimes my water temp is going up and down it's liked she want's to over heat but NOT. And a couple of seconds/minutes its going back again to the middle.

* My coolant is full
*The Fan is working 100%

*I check the thermostat on boiling water and it's opening, around half of the, Thumb. < Is that the normal opening?

Any help will be good.

Try bleeding the cooling system.

i already try that. When it's on idle it's just drop,drop,drop "Coolant" And when i REV it the coolant flow solid. Hmm. Did i do it right? Or do i need to stay it on idle and leave it in a couple of minutes?

The fan must turn on twice during the bleed procedure. This can take 20-30 minutes with the engine idling.

It could be a flow issue.

Check to see that the hoses aren't collapsed.

When was the last time the waterpump was changed?

Check the connection at the ECT. I had a weird issue similar to yours, and it turned out that I had a small coolant leak that dripped on the harness where it connected to the VSS which for some reason caused the temp gauge to spike when the speed of the car increased quickly.
