Verifying stolen engine
I posted this on an EVO forum and they weren't able to help me (EVOs don't get stolen that much). Unfortunately, I figured this would be a perfect question for honda-tech.
I'm starting a new big turbo build for my EVO IX. I found a longblock locally and the guy has no paperwork for the motor. He says he bought it from a guy who wrecked his EVO. I want to make sure the motor is not stolen. Are there any resources online that the public can check if a VIN number comes up stolen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Verifying stolen engine
That site is a good resource, but I would still go through CHP as well. A quick phone call should be all it takes. If the motor is legit, you're good. If it isn't, give them the seller's address, and you've done your good deed for the day.
