What would cause the upper radiator hose to SWELL and become HARD as a ROCK?

I have been suspecting a head gasket failure, would that cause it?

Thermostat maybe? Clogged Radiator? The hose feels like its about to POP.

Both hoses do get hot for what its worth. Could it be the pressure escaping from the head gasket getting into the coolant system?

It does not overheat while driving.

Clogged radiator? If the lower hose isn't pressurized (or is collapsed at all) I'd suspect the radiator has a blockage.

Had the same problem.

Figured out that it was a clogged radiator on our civic. This may not necessarily be the same with your but I suspect a clogged radiator too.

You could try running with the radiator cap off. If the coolant overflows, then it could be a clogged radiator.

If its the rad. Take it off the car and run a garden hose thru the lower hole and back flush it

According to the OTHER thread he wasn't going to fix it. Just see if he could get it by the next person to buy it. Could've performed the tests by now.
