Yesterday my cousin told me he got pulled over by an undercover cop in FRESNO. That didn't make sense to me. How did he get pulled over? I guess the under cover cop in a lowered civic coupe w/ body kit, had them really bright lights that flash on and off, like the cops have. So when the cop pulled him over, the cop and another cop in an eclipse, again lowered with a body kit made him pop his hood. Then they called in the plate to see if they had his car documented in an illegal street race. Well they didn't and they almost gave him a ticket for his air filter, but then my cousin showed them the sticker. So in the end they let him go.
So the questions are as follows: Are there any here? If they ask you to pop your hood, do you really have too? Don't they need a search warrant? (Oh, my cousins car has some decals on the side, lowered 1.75 inches and an exhaust) Do you have undercover cops in your neighborhood?

I don't believe you have to show the cops anything when you get pulled over. If they want to look in your car you have the right to tell them no. Most people don't and just let them search. But by law I don't think you have to let them look in your car.

In AZ they have undercover cops but not in lowered imports. That is crazy, cops driving lowered honda's and mitsu's.

they can only pull you over if you did sometihng wrong. i.e. moving violation or broken turn signal, brokem rear window, driving with lights off at night..etc etc
Its basically anything suspicious that you could have done. It gives them "Probable cause" to pull you over and do as they wish. I'm guessing they are indercover in a sting operation on street racing. You sure your cuz wasnt just leaving a street racing scene? Only detectives are plain clothes....and the fact they these cops were and were driving around in a import with body kit makes me believe it was some kinda sting operation.

Well i know for a fact that in Reno NV that there is a under cover cop driving a Civic with a big *** type R sticker on it and they will pull up next to you and get you to race and then after the race here comes the real cops to pull you over and get a big fat ticket,One of my friends fell for that one and got a big ticket.so yes there is under cover cops specialy the ones that are on the tasic force for illgal racing.

here's the scoop. If you get blipped by the bastards, make sure they declare their credentials. Also, they must have a resonable suspicion to be able to search your car. You have the right to ask them what the suspicion is. If you are with friend, make sure that he hears who the cop says as he is saying it. If both of you hear it then you have a better chance in court if the **** hits the fan.

If you want a way to get out of tickets write a check to the city for $10 more than the ticket price. They will have to send you back a check for $10 but DON"T CA! They won't asess points to your license unless all financial things are cleared. If you don't cash the check, they won't clear and the county is happy cuz they got their money and they can't force you to cash a check. IT WORX-trust me!

If that cops tries to get you to race him and then they pull you over for racing, that is the most clear cut story of entrapment that I have heard in relation to street racing. Take them to court and fight the ticket if that happens to you!!!

Thats crazy! Cops in imports. I thought it was wild when I saw a undercover in a Lex gs 400 on 20s. Lucky they didn't try to get you to race, you woulda been screwed. Cops sholud stick to AMERICAN cars, they always dis us.

yeah until recently, they cud only roll in american cars, since it is america and they only get hook ups with gmc? or whatever their hook up is with the crown vics.
now ive seen them rollin in corollas and taxi cabs, but no body kit and such.

around my way cops, cruise in seized vehicles, that were taken away as a result of racing.
their was this saleen in my town, with a big as sticker on the door, saying "NYPD - this car was seized etc...."

what in the hell....thats just wrong... did you get a ticket or not. and yea if the reason for the original pull over isnt ticketable then anything i mean anything they find you cant get ticketed for...like if you get pulled over for blue headlights since thats considered a "fix it" ticket they cant do anything if you have a dead body sitting in your passenger seat..

i was pulled over for lights once, wasnt speeding or doing anything wrong and i had no insurance and no registation and he just said to fix the lights....

While I cannot offer legal advise to anyone (since I am not Bar certified), I can say from being a cop for 5 years that many of you have no idea about probable cause statutes.
All a cop needs to pull you over is probable cause, i.e. broken tail light. At that time he must ask you to produce your license, registration and proof of insurance. If you fail to produce any of those he can check on his computer to see if you have them and just failed to carry them with you. If you don't have any of these things he *can* issue a ticket even if he pulled you over for the taillight.
As for the dead body in the passenger seat: I know you are just using an exaggeration, but if a cop pulled you over for that same broken tail light, or colored turn signals, or dragging your muffler over the train tracks, and he sees a dead body in the car he can have you face down on the pavement faster than you can swallow your gum! If a cop, in the process of notifying you of a violation sees something, anything, that gives him probably cause to search your car or person he can do it!
DON'T BE MISINFORMED BY PEOPLE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND THE LAW OR HOW IT APPLIES TO A TRAFFIC STOP!
Either get the opinion of a local police officer (remember they are there to protect you and your property), or call a lawyer!

My friend says "why did you pull us over?" the cop says "oh broken taillight" The pig pulls out his nightstick and breaks my friends brand new GSR taillights. Then issues him a fix it ticket for the light stupid pig

thats uncalled for... the police officers action and the way u presented it to the board... rosebloodsol just informed us he was a police officer and u go on like that... which is completely uncalled for... thats his proffesion and i doubt he would be like that officer otherwise he probably wouldnt even be on this board! i know a lot of cops... most are nice and normal human beings to me... helll ... they are like u and me... normal people doing their job! and yes some feel power hungry at times... but hey... that happens in every proffesion... dont tell me u have never had a boss that was just a plain a55hole? so get over it! dont go around disrespecting all officers because of a few corrupt ones... (oh... and im sure there was more to the story than him just breaking ur tailight...)

I am sorry that wasn't directed towards rosebloodsol, I appreciate that police officers put their life on the lines for all of us everyday.Also, 99% of the police are good and make all of our lives safer. It's the 1% percent who have major power trips and are just plain mean that i worry about. I realize without the police we would live in total chaos so I am greatful fo all they do. Except smashing my friends taillight out was uncalled for!

i agree. i got pulled over once for "modified exhaust" eventhough i had my stock exhaust on the car!! i tried to explain that that is the stock muffler and i was willing to start the car and rev it so he can see it for himself. he still gave me a ticket and told me to explain all that to the judge. i plead not guilty. and of course, the judge believed him and not me. and i cleared that ticket with the same exhaust i had on when i got pulled over. the muffler was completely stock from header to the muffler-tip! my car was all stock except it was lowered and had aftermarket wheels. now, how do we deal with eesh like that?
as for those under-cover cops in civics and eclipses, there is no way in hell i'd stop for that. how are we suppose to know that they are actual cops. anyone can buy a $20 light, put it on their eclipse, and pretend they are cops, pull people over and kill 'em?? rape 'em? steal their car.... i would not stop if some eclipse behind me had police lights and was trying to pull me over. i wouldn't go running from them, but i wouldn't stop until i'm sure they are cops. F*#@ that. with all the shiet going around nowadays, people getting killed because some idiot liked their car and wanted to joy-ride it, i'd rather risk getting arrested later.

one night here in vegas we was kicking it at the local saturday night spot(in-n-out) when a ing red-burgendeish stratus with limo tint windows is hauling *** in the parking lot. nobody thinks its the cops so everybody just looks at the car, the passenger of the ing stratus gets out and points a gun to a 200sx driver that was trying to get away!! thats some serious bull!!! a few buddys and I joked about undercovers being in hooked up imports, but now its a reality. also theyr is a new eclipse(black), some old white guy drives it,that eclipse is turbo'd and yup, undercover!!!watch out for these fools!!!!!
