Tranny Mount Bolt hole Stripped. :( help please.
Okay long story short, I just bought a EK hatch w a d16y7
So I was wondering why my shifting was rough and felt like my motor was moving going from neutral to first. I then noticed that one of my motor mount bolt hole is stripped. (it is one of the 3 bolts that holds the transmission mount to the chassis.
heres a picture
I tried tightening it and thats as far as it would go.
Is there any thing I can do about this?
This really ruined my day discovering this.

That looks like a conversion mount (Hasport?) The originals were welded in place, I don't know how substantial the conversion mount's underpinnings are. It may not be easy to get the the nut inside the frame rail, so you may have to weld the mount in place.

Hey guys thanks for the help... yeah it really did take some skill for someone to put that bolt on like that and strip the hole on the chassis. the tranny bracket is fine its just oem ebay polyurethane mounts i ordered, and realized how bad that bolt looked.
Can i Tap and die it at all? or is the nut unable to handle the larger hole?
my last resort is to weld the mount because i know that would be pricey.

is there anything that can be done? changing the transmission bracket wouldn't help, because its stripped where the mount is bolted on to the chassis.
im pretty sure that there is a nut behind the the frame rail. Im just really frustrated and sad, i just bought this EK put tons of money into new motor mounts and this happens. Erg i hate shady sellers!
anyone has any suggestions ??

I have had good luck with Helicoil re-thread kits. You drill the hole out to a bigger size then use an insert to get the hole back to regular size. If you are very careful it should turn out perfect. I use them all the time when holes get stripped. I even used one for a timing belt tensioner before.
You can buy them from Snap-On trucks, but I think Napa has them too.

Look up helicoil kits on google and youtube. The inserts are basically a new set of threads. You drill the old ones out bigger and re-tap it. Then you insert the helicoil. The kit comes with everthing you need, drill bit, tap, coils. Make sure you get the right size though.
You can always try to just re-tap the hole first, it might work depending how stripped it is.

u can not tap/die helicoil nothing you cant do it the frame rail is thin and not meant for any of that. there is a square nut inside the frame rail the only way to get it is to cut the frame rail open on the outside of the car not the inside/engine bay

I've got the same issue except it's on the other side of the engine bay. I wanted to remove the engine mount except the square nut became unwelded from inside the frame. Now I can't tighten the bolt. How did you fix your problem? Did you cut into the frame from the other side?
