My TPS kept fluctuating, so I changed it and cleaned out the TB. I changed it with a known working one. I bought a brand new craftsman multimeter.

I put it in, and the lowest it'll read is .66ish. I put in the other one and it reads the same thing. What is wrong? It would do it correctly in the past, but now its not working ever since i took it out. Two broken TPS? is the TPS sensitive to heat? Why is it not reading correctly

.5v off and 4.5v full throttle.

I'm sure i will have the same problem when i replace mines next week. How are you probing it btw? Did u use a needle or? My readings were completely ****ed up

Well make sure the ecu is sending the 5v reference signal and make sure your grond is good. What I would do is connect the tps no bolted to the TB. Then measure. Report back

OK, so i have a multimeter all i have to do is turn it to 12V, take a sewing pin push it through the middle red/black wire or stick it into the middle part of the connector, touch the black onto battery ground, then touch the pin and get the readings that way right? I tried this and it gave me like crazy readings.... I dont get what i'm doing wrong... am i on the wrong settin on the multimeter? Should i spilce the wire?

yes thest fine. i dont reccomend though using that push pin through the wire. u can use it to touch the pins inside the connecter on the backside after it is connected..just turn the car to run dont start. put the ground probe to battery ground turn ur meter to 12v DC. then measure.

Its not a good idea to simply push the pin through the wire, it may lead to issues in the future.

my craftsman multimeter did this

turn it off auto mode and manually set the voltage range. it helped mine

I set the thing to VDC20.
I shaved a piece of insulation from the wiring so I can probe it through there easily.
I turn the car two clicks, or 1 click before the starter goes.
Negative on negative battery, and positive on the red wire.
and I get .62 sometimes .8ish. It won't go down to .5.

I tried doing it off the tb, fully rested it would show .6 ish.

The gasket is perfectly fine, reused but fine. Even tried without the gasket. Switched it back it forth many times too.

Maybe I'm probing it wrong?

And I'm using the two right connecters, com and V, ohms. and I have it set on the top left at 20, VDC

there is a tiny nut with a screw type of thing that adjust the pitch of the throttlebody mover that around to calibrate it to bring the numbers up and down pm for pic's if your need real help on it i do this all the time lol

I know what your talking about, it's at its lowest, any lower and the tb will get stuck. The sensor doesn't even read .5v with it disconnected from the tb.

What year/engine Civic? What voltage do you measure if you touch the black meter probe to the TPS ground wire instead of the battery ground post? Are you using a digital multimeter?

I'll try doing that later, but I usually just touch ground on the battery.
I'm using a digital one, looks alot like the one in the link you quoted.

Maybe i have 2 bad tps sensors?

Also check the input voltage at the unplugged TPS connector, again using the TPS ground wire in the connector as ground.

I think I was probing it wrong, I depinned the plug, and plugged it into the tps one by one, and then took a reading that way.
