well he doesnt know which ones he likes better unless he has both or gets some opinions on both, but anyway you shouldve searched before this, and dont lie and say you did cause theres plenty of threads on both illumnas and AGX

btw i have AGX and i love them

I got the tokico illumina suspension kit (shocks and springs). Been ridin on it for 2 months now. Great ride. I hope to upgrade to some GC coilovers though. Also, had my newb *** not been such a newb 2 months ago I would have looked into the Omnipower full coilovers (but at the time I thought I needed SHOCKS on top of that.... i was an idiot ).

nobody mentioned that AGX doesnt warranty their shocks if your car is lowered more than 1.5 inches, or something along those lines.

good point, i was riding real lcose to bottoming out and my car is lowered like 2" maybe a lil more, but it isnt slammed.

ANyway point is low, the agx arent the best. BUT i found a solution from good ole groundcontrol. Check out their upper strut mounts, they extend shock travel. I got 2 pair and I must admit the AGX love it, and i can go much lower now (if i ever wanted to)

also if you remove the brakeline bracket and weld it back on higher up, you can get another like .7" of travel at the front shocks.

and its pure travel, works better than the upper mounts.

still the upper mounts work good too.

OH and if you dont do something about the travel issue,
those shocks will not last.
the dual(compression and rebound) damping adjustment feature makes them more fragile.

KYB AGX's for me over here, I think they are great for the price and I am on my second set of them, but on different cars(accord, civic), and I love them for the price. I use Tanabe Sustec springs with my KYB AGX's and they are great, but I put a set of KYB AGX's on my friends Accord with cheapo ebay springs and I hate the AGX with that set up. So as long as you use a good quality spring/coil over you should be fine. If you are going to be tracking the car alot I think there are better shock choices out there, but for driving on the street with a little track time they are fine. This is just what I think, so i don't know.

dude, they both blow out.
honestly I think they're probably really close as far as durability.

never had the illuminas so I cant speak for their durability,
i have had agx's however, they did end up losing their damping in the rears moreso than the fronts after alittle less than a years use. Didnt blow out completely or anything, just not damping like they should anymore.
And for much of that year I was riding on the bumpstops, which I believe cause much of the damage.

illuminas are 5way adjustable instead of 4way with the agx.. which is a plus.
they're normally more expensive than the agx's.. which would lead one to believe that while the shocks are quite similar, the illuminas MAY be SLIGHTLY stronger.

give them a shot.

yeah, I'm personally NOT a fan of tokico's products, and I dont think i'd ever buy them actually. But thats just me, i'm not going to knock them either.

I'd say if you are worried about that, go with the agx's,
they are really tried and true, any stories you hear about the agx's blowing out are due to running them under harsh situations(slammed cars, superhigh springrates, etc).

SO look at it this way,
the chances of getting a "tainted" agx are lower than illuminas,
but if you get a good illumina it might perform just a tad better than agx's.

i've had my illumina's for over 2 years, lowered over 2.5"s and for the past 7 months have had skunk2 drag springs in the rear. so far so good.

and as far as which one to get. i'd go with which ever one offers teh best customer support and warrantee. then i think the answer is clear.
