Think i have a rod knock (spun rod bearing) What can I do...?
Ok just bought the car and changed the oil (93 si) and what i thought was a belt making a noise may be a spun rod bearing.
My main question is, without a thought about bottom end condition later on, how long can i drive with a rod knock.
I need to get enough money together to get a z6 or y8 bottom end. (e-mail me if you have one for sale)
Haven't searched yet but i also need to know if a clutch from a 94 dx motor (i have a brand new one from my dads car that was totalled) would fit a d16z6. clutchmasters and act list the same aftermarket clutch for the two of them...
again, my main question is how long i can go on a rod knock. THanks for all your input.

i only rode on my spun rod bearing for about 1 hr then it would cut out at every stop light but now i think that i have done the same thing to my new y8 plus blew a piston ring and i have been driving it for like 2 weeks while i look to buy a hatch for 800 with a d15 so just dont drive it hard and the clutch will also fit if it is from a d series motor

yeah it was from a 94 4 door dx...the clutch had 150 miles before a drunk hit my dads car when it was parked.
i have driven about 450 miles on the sound so far and it hasnt gotten worse except when i changed the oil.

damn...what a coincidence...you and i are facing the same problem with the rod bearing. i stopped driving my car because i dont want it to give out on me somewhere on the road. the way im facing the problem is saving money for a swap instead of putting more money into it.
as for the clutch..i believe it would fit because i had a centerforce clutch and the part number was the same for the 92-00 sohc civics.

Re: (Synergy001)
its a real light tap, me and my buddy were studying it today, it may be a problem with running 5w-30 after the other owner may have run 10w all of the time. Going to change the oil to a higher viscocity to hopefully save it until i can get a new shortblock...
