Stuck open or stuck closed? Closed, no. Open, yes.

Open is fine as others have stated, the only thing is that since your car will not reach the ideal operating temp, (yes, you can overcool a car) your gas milage will take a hit becuase the ECU thinks the engine is still trying to warm up.

my friend drove his car for 4.5 YEARS with stuck-open thermostat...

And the car is fine.... the only drawback is getting VTEC working on cold days cos when car finally warms up to an operating temperature, if you drive on the highway on low/mid range, the temperature GOES DOWN

And you can't use the heater in the cabin so you will probably catch a cold if you drive for a long time...

But 30 miles is nothing... just go for it, replace the t-stat and you're set

Theres a company called Fail-Safe that makes thermostats to stay open if it fails.
