Default Is there an exhaust that sounds like a WRX's SPT?

*I searched first*

I was wondering if there was any exhaust that would fit my 97 Del Sol that sounds like a Subaru SPT exhaust for a WRX. I will probably go turbo in the not-too-distant future, if that helps dictate a response.
My friend has an 09 WRX and the SPT gives it one of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard- not too loud, but with a deep rumbling sound. It's nearly perfect.

I know a lot of it has to do with the Boxer engine, but I'm hoping there is something available like it.

Most of that sound comes from the un-equal length header if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure people have tried to fabricate something like that before..

comes from unequal length header you are correct.

if your that interested in the sound only then you can fab up an unequal lenth exhaust manifold to duplicate the sound... you would do nothing but lose power though lol.... unequal = bad.. and to get a "boxer rumble" you would have to have 2 cylinders with at least an extra 24 inches of pipe compared to the other two cylinders....

They used to have unequal lengths several years ago, but they are all equal now.

if your friend has "equal length" headers... then it doesnt have a boxer rumble.
and all turbo boxers have unequal length headers to date so if his are equal length then they are aftermarket
N/A boxers however have closer to equal lenths.

Ok then, Boxer Engine and headers aside, is there any exhaust that isn't loud, ricey, and is just low and actually sounds good and powerful? I went through the exhaust sticky on the FAQs and I don't think any sound good.

The Apexi just doesn't really appeal to me...

It seems like almost all exhausts for Hondas sound like a rattle-can being shaken or a whoopi cushion.
But it does kind of seem like the Apexi sounds the best of what I've heard (and it looks good, too. Not a crisco can)... even though I'm not particularly fond of the note.

i hear it's because they have unequal length headers.

if your car sounds like a subaru, and you don't have a subaru, do a compression test, somethings wrong.

like other people said i recommend apexi wsII but call before you order to see how long the wait is if they are on national backorder.

wrxs sounds the way they sound from there boxer motor, if u want something that sounds similar like a wrx look into a megan racing drift spec but not a fan of megan racing parts.

look into a ws2.

My car has a deep rumble like that at low RPM (between 500 & 2500 RPM). Its a built D with a GReddy SP2 Replica.

Don't you like the way my exhaust sounds? Its not loud at all unless you get on it and its doesn't sound ricy at all. Sort of sounds like the suby when I start getting on it. lol

Do what i did.

Dc exhaust, empty cat, and ebay header. The ebay headers generally doesn't come with a donut gasket. Say "screw it" put it on anyways. The insuing exhaust leak makes a noise like a wrx.

i always reccomend the apexi ws2, greddy sp2 or the tanabe touring medallion. all sounds deep and low and stay quiet till your really on it. a test-pipe will make them raspy as well.

i thought my dog farted. the "subaru sound" is just your intake sound mixing with the exhaust.

WRX is an 6 cylinder..compared to a del sol 4 cylinder it will just end up making a different tone of sound.. that's at least what i think. i know cam and all that has something to do with it, but still different motors

I like the Vibrant Street power mufflers. The ones that look like a stock muffler.
