Default Symptoms of Bad Idle Air Control Valve

Hey, someone suggested that my IACV might be bad. I have a '00 Honda Civic, I need to know how I can test it, and where I can find it and best / easiest way to change it. And what does something like this cost?

Thank You - in advance!

P.S. I checked the ECU, theres no error codes being thrown.

what symptoms does the car have that would make you think the sensor is bad? the car will idle real bad and may not stay started.

How would you distinguish between a bad EACV and a bad fast idle valve? My car does idle badly (only until it warms up) and sometimes will not stay started. I was told it was the fast idle valve, but I'd hate to replace that only to find it was the EACV causing the problem.

Car Starts up with no problem, once started idle is fine. Put it in drive, drive for a couple of minutes, once a lil warmed up and come to a complete stop, idle comes to almost stalling .... putting on A/C SOMETIMES helps to kick up the idle just enough to keep it running. Turn off AC, car starts to shake, lose idle quickly.

Sound about right? I dunno what else to look for to be honest.

no problem

that is the actual part.

its bolted right behind the "G" in PGM-FI
2 - 12mm bolts hold it on, with 2 lines at the bottom for coolant.

You might want to check the timing I had the same symptoms as you with my civic when I first got it and it drove me nuts I finally checked the timing with a timing gun and come to find out my timing was all messed up, someone before me had changed the timing belt and got the camshaft pulley off two teeth and then messed around with the ignition timing to get the car to run. So I fixed all the timing and now the car runs better than it has ever run since I have owned it. Just thought you might like to know this if the IACV is good. Well good luck.

Timing is good, put up the idle a drop, injector cleaning and new distributor cap its all working good now.

BUTTTTTTT ... I m getting a low buzzing noise from the IACV area, right between the 2nd and 3rd fuel injectors ... but right below the air intake box. So, my question is, could the IACV make a buzzing noise if it is clogged or somethign wrong with it? Is there a quick and painless way to check it out? Or a easy way to clean it out? It is a lil pricey to just replace correct?

All info is appreciated! Thank you for the pics and posts! Very helpful.

Oh yea, i have the '00 civic, so that pic is a lil off from mine... what is that? An older accord or prelude?

ALSO IVI you said that it seemed like air wanted to come out of the intake ... strangely enough i get the same thing. When i take out the filter, rev it, air pressure shoots out that small hole above the throttle plate and hits the plate as it opens to make a wooshing sound. Did you find out what that was? That has started since I got this buzzing noise from the IACV area.

Its true I had the same problem and replacing the plastic component of the valve and cleaning the metal part solved the issue

I have a 91prelude. Its a manual. It starts good never wants to stall but when I'm at a complete stop whether I'm in gear or not the car starts to idle drop from 2k down to 1500. My buddie told me he had the exact same problem and said it was his IACV. I just wanted to know if it was the same thing.
