stock 1997 civic hx keyless entry help
when i bought the car with the stock radio, the remote and KE(Keyless Entry) worked perfect all the time.
So I installed my own sound system which included a pioneer deck, so i took the stock radio out.
For about a couple months everything was good but then one day, my car wouldnt unlock? I changed the batteries in the remote and it still would not unlock?
so my questions are:
1. is there any way to program a new remote/KE to the car with the aftermarket deck in my car?
2. What may be the cause to the problem where the car wont unlock?
3. How do i use the vallet button? i no where it is at, but i have no idea what it does or how to use it.
please answer all questions, thanks!

I'm a bit lost as to how it was working fine after you removed the stock radio. As far asI know the receiver is on the rear - it should not work if there is no receiver. You sure you used it in the time when you put the pioneer deck in to when it stopped working?

Re: stock 1997 civic hx keyless entry help
ive had that pioneer deck in for a long time now
and it worked like i said perfectly fine till one day i came out of work
at 9 oclock pm
then it wouldnt want to unlock the car so i couldnt start the car without the keyless entry unlocking then after two hours of trying, it finally unlocked.
i just went outside and locked it with remote, then unlocked it again and it worked fine. but there is a problem like i said, sometimes it will not unlock.

Re: stock 1997 civic hx keyless entry help
Is this the factory keyless entry you are talking about or is it aftermarket?
If it is factory it cannot work without the radio since it's part of the radio. Remove it and you have no factory keyless entry system.
If you have a valet switch then we're talking about aftermarket and then it's not a Honda issue.

ok well there is a button on the bottom near the clutch pedal,
and i am pretty positive this is a factory alarm im not sure to tell the truth i bought it from a person that already had it on there, i figured it was factory because of the stock stereo in the car at the time
