Default steering help

ok so my steering was pretty bad my wheel wasnt centering
i was hearing cracking sounds (which still make noise even after new rack ) when i would jerk wheel or go from a stop..
put it on the lift.. saw my steering rack was leaking power steering fluid..
just changed it the power steering rack with tie rods inner and outter and now its even worse..
the wheel feels very stiff and when i put it any which way evn like an inch over while im driving and let go it will just stay there..
everything under the car was fine like ball joints but not 100% just pushed up and down on wherl had no play.. also have after market upper camber kit
the only thing i can think of is a bad power steering pump.. would this cause this if its bad?
also the wheel turns to the right easy but to the left very hard..
oh and i got an alignment right after
i hope the new rack isnt bad
i mean how would i know if my ball joints are siezed? they didnt really have any play

if it is the pump..simple test
with the motor off turn the wheel hard
while holding it start the car
if it goes soft the pump is working
doesnt mean its good but does show its pumping at least
but how much diffrence is there between turning the wheel with engine off and engine on
if there only a little diffrence then sounds like a pump or blockage or low fluid

could be the control valve in the steering rack

another test you could do is
disconnect the tierods at the knuckle and then see if the stiffness is still there if it is then steering rack ( test with and with out engine running )
if its stiffness is gone then start looking at the upper and lower joints

my mechanic said this just now about my ball joints If they were it would have been hard to turn the spindle when there was no rack in the car. They moved fine. is that true?

Of course they aren't. If you wanted labor covered, you should have bought the part through the shop. Save a dime, spend a dollar.

Replace all of it. You aren't doing any troubleshooting. Just guessing.

And you're not taking it. Just sitting there scratching your head looking confused.
Did you check the ball joints? I'm sorry. Did your FRIEND check the ball joints?
I found this just in case neither of you know how.

If you have a mechanic working on it I don't understand why you're posting for help in a forum. How are YOU performing the troubleshooting?
