Default Speedometer jumping

Have 94 EX and my speedometer is jumping and sometimes does not work. Wanted to know what could be the problem (cable?)

A few things that maybe is the speed sensor is going bad or not connect correctly. Take the plug and clean it a bit. May have some dirt or crap on the connectors.

Secondly, if not. Your actual tach(speedometer) may be faulty. If so, you can pick another complete cheap on here on you local junkyard.

clean the VSS connector at the tranny. This cures 99% of the jumpy speedos/CEL 17 errors.
