Default Spal power window kit...anybody have pictures after install?

I've been looking into the Spal power window kit for my hatch.

It seems to me that it just has a motor that cranks the stock window crank gear.

My question and concern is what you do with the crank gear after the install is done....does it just stay sticking out of the doorpanel, but with some dopey little cap on it!?

I'm working on custom doorpanels, and I need the space directly where the window crank gear sticks out.....so naturally, I need most of the stock window crank gear to be GONE.

So my major concern is what happens to the window crank gear.....I know it something there has to stay in place, but I'm wondering how much of it. Hopefully not all of it.

Anyway, a picture would be worth a thousand words if anybody has one...I'd love to see one with the doorpanel on, as I've found a few in searches with the doorpanels off. I'd like to see a 'finished' install.

TIA.

taken from...
http://www.commandocaralarms.c...D=428

Description:
• Converts 2 Doors to Power Window
• Perfectly suited for any type of door, front or rear.
• Power window system is installed behind the door panel.
• Does not change the exterior design of the door panel
• Power window motors are extremely quiet.

Sorry I don't think that answer's your question too well...

If you look at the kit the motor will turn the crank from behind the doorpanel... so leaving the crank handle on is un-neccisary... I believe it just comes with a plug to fill the whole...

Search google you may find pics of it.

Thanks for the help man.

I've seen several pictures of the kits installed, but none with the doorpanel back in place.

Only with the doorpanel off so you can see what's going on in there.

The only thing I'm concerned about is what exactly the 'plugs' are that cover the stock crank. I mean, the crank sticks out about what....1/2" or so...I don't see how any type of plug could make that stub look good if it's still going to stick out of the doorpanel.

I wish I could find an OEM system for a decent price....people are just making a killing on those right now, and I don't want to have to pay it.

So the entire crank gear remains in tact, minus the crank itself?

How does he like it? Quiet? Do the windows go up fast? Would he recommend it?

All I've seen are cool 'jdm' kits...and then they *literally* expect me to pay $200-300 for shipping, on top of an asking price of 200-300.

It's a freakin rip off.

You know where any cheap ones are?

I bought 95 civic EX door panels = $200
Spal Delux Window Kit = $100
Spal Remote Entry and Door Lock kit = $40

The kit just uses a cog that goes around the window crank, and it turns it for yah.

The JDM one or the civic EX one is the full window crank system. This way is a hell of a lot of trouble.

Also, the jdm one, the switches are backwards. The master switch is on the drivers side.

Why did you buy EX doorpanels?

EX's don't have the crank gear...are you sure the panels are going to clear the crank gear? If the spal kit doesn't do away with the crank gear, aren't you going to have to cut a hole in the EX panel to clear it?

Or did you just buy it to use the stock switches?

i have done it before..the spal kit or any other aftermarket power window kit really SUCK! the motor go out fast (or so). but yeah you retain all the stock wingow regulator and what it is that they give you a cap that goes with the kit to cover in the crank teeth. that all it is just a cap to cover up the hole on the door panel to make it look clean.

The actual installation is very easy, I was just wondering if anybody had pictures of the Spal (specifically) kit.

I have seen the kits in magazines, I don't think he would experience a problem with it clearing cause the chain goes around the gear itself or at least that's what I remember (it's been awhile). I'm still wondering why he paid $200 for door panels.

All the kits are a complete kit, meaning it's for 2 doors, or 4 doors, depending on which kit you get.

MilanoRex, how do you like your kit? Do you have the standard kit or the deluxe kit?

Both sides broke within a year(chains snapped).. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I'm going OEM this time.
