which ecu on jdmb16
i have a jdm b16 from hmotorsonline.com
i have done the bypass for the ckf sensor and it starts up. it always throws a code6 no matter what.
i've read and been told that it may be due to my ecu being bad or i may need to convert.
i have the stock em1 obd2b harness in it now and looking to run a p28 or p30. should I go this route? I would prefer this to fix my cel and get my motor out of limp mode, but I would like to run my p2t for emissions purposes (once a yr).
also, i am running obd2 injectors, obd2 distributor, but the jdm oil pump.
please, please help!!

JDM OBD2 engines don't have a CKF sensor (and adding one requires buying a USDM OBD2 oil pump, CKF sensor and lower timing belt cover) so it's not that cheap to add in. Most guys just tap into the CYP sensor in the distributor to fool the ECU into the thinking the CKF sensor is there.

I dunno, I just do.
Btw OP code 6 is for the coolant temp sensor. Which has nothing to do with the CKF trick and both OBD1 and OBD2 ECUs will look for it (2 wire sensor under the distributor) check that out and see if it's bad.

You guys seem to be forgetting that simply running an OBD1 ECU isn't going to fix the problem at all. OP will still have the very same issue with an OBD1 ECU, unless the ECU is chipped to disable it. Chances are the sensor is bad (they're cheap, you can grab one from just about any D or B-series engine (and probably F/H-series as well) or there's a wiring issue.

^^he's talking about the temp sensor. and yeah i did the CKP trick on my harness too works great lol.
as far as which ecu, in any situation: USE THE CORRECT ECU for the engine. unless of course you have modified it fairly heavy (cams etc.) then u want to get it tuned.

Re: which ecu on jdmb16
i plugged in a p30 and i'm still showing CEL. when i test the red/white wire, it was showing 3.6v, which i belive should be around 5v. anyone have a clue why its not pushing all 5?
and also, what does the other wire do? what should that one be showing? or does it just pulsate a signal back to the ecm?
