Default signs of a stuck thermostat???

what are the signs of a stuck thermostat? problems i have are when i drive my car in the mornin and hit the freeway my temp needles is all the way down to C. and this is already prolly ten mins. into my commute. but when i stop or slow down the temp needle rises up. in the afternoon i drive the car, it warms up fine needle goes all the way up to normal temp, but when i hit the freeway again it brings it down to below C again. i just change the coolant to type 2 OEM coolant. soo could my problem be thermostat or radiator cap or what? thanks

Carlo

a stuck (bad) thermostat is when you drive and the temp just suddenly rises to H and never goes down.
car sounds okay to me.

stuck thermostat, stuck OPEN.

It is allowing coolant to flow through the radiator at ALL times. Therefore when stopped, you have no airflow thru the radiator. This allows car to reach normal operating temps. Once back moving the airflow will cool the coolant/radiator enough to OVERCOOL the car because the OPEN thermostat is not working.

Basically, a thermostat will regulate the amount of coolant aloowed to flow into the radiator to dissapate heat.

Confused? Most are.

He's right. I just changed my thermostat in my B16 sunday cause it was stuck open . It would never get warm and on the highway it would sometimes drop down below C which is bad. Now my car warms up a mile down the road and stays right in the middle.
