shorter gears for my y8 transmission
hi, i have a civic 98 ex with the stock transmission, i've read that that transmission has the shorter gears for the sohc, this weekend i'm buying a b7 transmission just to change the fifth gear (to save gas they say) but is it true?
btw, somebody is selling a d16a1 (integra 87 dohc) transmission, do the gears fit into the y8 transmission? are them shorter? i want to change the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, they seem to be very long gears
thanks for reading

Re: shorter gears for my y8 transmission
D15B7 trans has the same 5th gear as the Y8. The reason B7 revs lower is due to the final drive.
No you can't use '87 Integra trans parts.
There is no lower OEM first gear available, you'd need to go with an aftermarket gearset from a company like MFactory.
4th gear is the only gear that's easy to deal with. 3rd gear from a VX trans can be flipped over and used as a short 4th.
