Default secondary o2 sensor problem with obd1

so i have a 96 dx and i have a CEL for the secondary o2 sensor heater unit or something and i just recently got an obd2-obd1 harness and i am running a chipped p06 when i run the obd1 computer it starts up and a couple seconds after running the idle turns to **** and tries to stall out and then the CEL comes on again. i havent checked the code with the obd1 computer on, but why am i still getting a CEL? obd1 computers arent supposed to look for secondary o2 sensors, is it possible that i am running an LS basemap and that is why it runs like **** and stalls out? how can i find out? can anyone help me pleaaaase?

well... pull that obd1 code. thats the best place to start. odds are it has nothing to do with your secondary o2. if you had an ls bin (ROM) in your ecu it would not try to stall or die. would not run that great, but would not stall.

OBD1 does not utilize the secondary O2.

yes that is correct but when i check the code with my obd2 computer i only get one code which is for that sensor, so the obd1 computer may be creating an entirely new CEL?

correct!! the obd1 computer is definitely not throwing the secondary o2 code. put it back on and throw your codes and see why your check engine is on and go from there
