RSX steering wheel swap CLARIFICATION 96-00 civic
**this should answer all your questions**
It does fit and takes about 20 minutes to do! If you lengthen the wires on the connector for cruise control and shave some of the plastic down, you can re-use the civic cruise switches. The horn is plug and play, just re-attach the connector to the RSX bag. The only issue is that the airbag will NOT work with the USDM RSX steering wheel, which i just found out from my own personal experience. I'd like to have the airbag, but i'd rather have this steering wheel over the cheesy a$$ factory 00 si wheel. Does anyone with a JDM RSX wheel want to trade airbags??? send me an email if you do desi778@hotmail.com
This is what I found out... The USDM RSX steering wheel/airbag is dual stage (4 wires), and 96-00 civic is single stage (2 wires). I don't think and I cannot find any way to convert without changing the SRS system. I have read from RSX forums that the JDM RSX wheel is single stage and IS a direct fit with 96-00 civic, but could be costly as seen as everyone wants JDM lately even the RSX'ers. I've also read that you can drill out the rivets that hold the bag to the cover and swap bags so you could keep the JDM cover. Anyone that knows a way around this let me know. I'm open for suggestions, cause I wouldn't mind a functional bag!!!!

Re: RSX steering wheel swap CLARIFICATION 96-00 civic (mp5o)
removal is simple as..
disconnect the battery, put a bulb across the leads to drain the voltage (don't want the airbag to fire off in your face), disconnect the airbag connector (pull the cap off under the steering wheel), unscrew each torx screw on either side of the airbag, bag/cover comes right out, disconnect horn wire and cruise control, remove center nut, and tug side to side (wheel comes right off).
i've taken dumps that were harder to do!!!
i originally tried to win an s2k steering wheel, but they always went for around 500

Re: RSX steering wheel swap CLARIFICATION 96-00 civic (mr poo)
I hate to give this advice, but until you get the JDM airbag (shipped as a class 1.4 explosive) I REALLY reccomend putting the stock wheel back in JUST for the airbag. Its not so cool if you end up with a near $100,000 medical bill because a 5'2" girl had the wheel break her face literally (know someone who got almost killed from a non-deployed bag). Please, put the airbag in. If you get into a wreck, you most likely will get $0 from your insurance company.

thanks for the advice, and i don't disagree with you at all...
i'm well aware of the consequences and could of put money on it that i would get that type of reply. Thats why i made the post, so other people won't have this problem. So all you daily driven momo steering wheel drivers should take this advice into consideration..

Re: RSX steering wheel swap CLARIFICATION 96-00 civic (Redline96LX)
looks nice...to bad airbags dont work wit USDM RSX wheels.
i was plannin on swapping my HUGE stock civic steering wheel for a JDM steering wheel just because i think it looks better with out those cruise control buttons sticking out and the Honda Emblem, and now i see another plus is that the Air bag will work.
