Rotten Eggs!!!!
I have a 1999 EK Civic and when i'm driving on the freeway and get on the throttle I get the biggest smell of rotten eggs. I was wondering if anyone knows what that could possibly be? Also, its swapped with a B18B1 and I bought it from a dealership and they said that the guy that had it before me had a VTEC head on it before but took it off when he sold it to the dealership. So when I rev it up it fuel cuts and 5600 RPM which is when VTEC is supposed to hit. Could this mean that maybe I have a VTEC ECU W/ Non-VTEC head, or could it be as simple as a bad ground?

Re: Rotten Eggs!!!!
remove everything inside. seats and all panels. not side panels. but like the arm rest, glove box and driver side leg panel. clean it all up and add febreeze. then look inside all your air vent to see if maybe there are rotten eggs inside it.

Re: Rotten Eggs!!!!
I will definitely save the ecu. thanks for your help dude. but also... the rotten eggs....??? i know its not the cat because the exhaust is completely stock and the dealership didnt say anything about it being replaced. it could have been but i really doubt, i guess ill check tomorrow, any other ideas why it would smell like that though?

Re: Rotten Eggs!!!!
alright ill check the head gasket too, but it wouldnt make any sense because the guy put a brand new head on it before the dealership took it and it had to of been replaced then, unless they were little bitches and tried to shortcut it by using the old one. would you suggest a head gasket change?

replacing the headgasket cause i suggested that would be over kill considering i am diagnosing thru a keyboard... lol... i would think your compression would be near 180psi across the board... but considering mileage and such give or take 150psi
