Road Killed a Skunk last night. Car smells horrible! How to rid smell?
I feel extremely bad for the skunk that slipped under my car last night as I've never killed anything bigger than my palm. However, the smell or stench it left behind is starting to reek. I've heard of tomatoe juice or soup helps wash off the smell of a skunk on humans... but would that be possible for a car too? Knowing how long skunk stenches last, there has to be a remedy, even for cars, so that I don't have to suffer its last gift before dying... Though probably a well deserved gift... Anyone know any ideas/tips/or ways to rid a skunk's smell on a car....?

Thats what I'm resorting to right now... But air freshners won't do much when the car needs to be worked on...

1 U.S. Quart (approx 1 litre) of 3% hydrogen peroxide.
1/4 cup (approx 45ml) baking soda.
1 teaspoon (approx 5ml) liquid soap.
Directions: Mix together at time of usage, and apply foaming mixture to affected areas.

it happened to my dad one time. he took it to a car wash with a good sprayer and spent like 5 bucks and sprayed it down with the soap and degreaser for like 3.5 minutes or whatever 5 bucks gets you. he said it helped a lot, but the stench was still there for a while.

something else to consider...how big was it and did u smack itwith ur car or run over it with ur wheels...i asked bc i once smacked a ground hog, and that sucker kocked my one front wheel out of alignment. doesnt' feel good running over on lol. something to check on, just monitor your tires and look for uneven wear.
for the smell, if all else fails, i would try a good cleaner like 409 or anything that has amonia or bleech in it. bleech and amonia smells bad at first but it cleans like a ****, will probably take the smell away (we have a family resturant and 409 cleans up anything) plus the bleach smell goes away pretty quick if u rinse it and air it out. just a tip to try, good luck with it

lift your car it the air and spray it down with a high pressure wash and some simple green. hose down everything underneath.(he probably left a couple pieces of himself down there) rinse away. then go to your interior and vacuum and shampoo everything down

I don't think it was too big, but my car is quite low. It went directly under the middle of my car so no wheel and skunk contact, luckily. However, I DID hear contact between the skunk and somewhere under my car. I jacked the car up, looked under and found NO evidence of a skunk ever hitting the car. My assumption is that I must of nipped it hard and it got scared and sprayed... Too bad I don't know where it sprayed. I pressure sprayed and it still stinks, so I'm going to try that mythbuster solution tomorrow. I might try that ammonia/bleach solution tomorrow as well, as sort of a double team action.
Just wondering, will bleach damage anything under the car?
Btw, the smell gets INTO the cabin and it accumulates over night, so the first wiff of air when I open the doors is awful:
Wondering if this information can get you guys to give me hints on where might the spray be as an approximation.
Thanks.
