replacing dizzy seal
I'm in the process of replacing my clutch, so while everythings apart i figured i'd get to the bottem of my oil leak all over the trans.
as much as i wish it was just the dizzy o-ring, its not. The leak is coming from the breather port (i guess thats what its called) or drainedge port on the bottem of the dizzy, and upon futher dissasembly theres definately enough oil in the dizzy to point the blame at the dizzy seal.
Now big question is, what is involved in removing this seal (d16z6 dizzy btw)? It looks as if after removing the front part of the shaft held on by the pin and snap ring, i can get access to that seal pretty easily. Is it required to actually gut the dizzy to get to the back of the seal to knock it out? If so could someone explain the process of gutting it, i cant get much farther past removing the top cap and rotor. After searching every honda forum i know of with every slang term for distributor seal oil leak, i cant find anything lol.
So just a little how-to or tips on removing the main shaft in the dizzy to get access to and remove the distributor seal. Thanks H-T has been a huge help doing my own work on the car and saving tons of money!

Remove the distributor. Remove the rotor cap and inspect the shaft for end play. There should be none, if there is, your bearings is shot, and you will more than likely need a new dizzy, but if your good, continue. One the back side of the distributor is the keyway, which needs to be removed. There is a circlip that is around that that will need to be taken off, a thin flat screw driver or pick will be sufficient. after you remove that, take a pen or another thin object and push the keyway pin out, its the little silver looking thing that the circlip covers. After you do this, remove the keyway, which should fall off with it, and the shims behind it if any. That removes everything and leaves the end bare. Now go to dizzy insides and remove the coil. Then remove the ignition module, be careful not to unplug anything if you don't know where it goes. carefully take the ignition module out of its hole and then remove the case mounting screws (I think either 3 or 4 of them.)and the shaft should slide out with the cover when you tug on it. There are sensors behind this that are connected to a wire harness. Make sure you take note of that before you try prying it off and break a sensor wire, which will require replacement.
Thats it.
Thats it.
