REAR MAIN SEAL QUESTION. B16 99 EM1
I have a bad oil leak, which I believe is going to be the rear main seal.
However, my vtec solenoid is leaking and I have two spots it leaks. In the middle and under the tranny. What should I change when changing the rear main seal? I keep getting told there is another gasket next to the crankshaft seal.
THE CAR IS A 99 CIVIC SI (EM1) 5 SPEED.

Re: REAR MAIN SEAL QUESTION. B16 99 EM1
Start with changing your vtec solenoid screen/gasket. If you know you have a problem there its always best to start with the easy stuff. I have seen vtec solenoid gaskets leak all over the damn place. You may be surprised and have that be your only problem. Also you should have 1 rear and 1 front main seal. Thats it.

Change the easy seals first, if the leak continues replace the main.
