Radiator Fan not turning on

Radiator Fan not turning on
Let me start off by saying my car is not overheating, however the radiator fan does not kick on. My coolant temperature sensor never goes past half way and the only time it ever did was while I was sitting in traffic on a hot day idling. The fan works because I tested it from the battery and it spun like a champ. The fan relay also works. Is it the coolant temperature sensor that is bad or could it be something else?

if everything works as tested then maybe its possible that your engine just hasn't gotten hot enough? What temp range is your thermostat? Have you let it idle in the driveway for 10 - 20 min? where you located ? Alaska? Canada? Texas? ambient temperature is a factor, Whats a hot day to you? its a good sign if your car isn't overheating and the fan isn't coming on. means your cooling system is efficient.
FYI. My fan never comes on unless I leave it running while parked for 15-20 min. live in Toronto Canada . . . . its hot here during the day... 20-30 deg Celsius . ..

The same exact thing happen to me as soon as it started to warm up this year. The fan switch was bad, replaced it, no more over heating in traffic.

Re: Radiator Fan not turning on
How do you know the fans are not coming on? How did you test it? As a mechanic I can tell you from the 100x flushes, timing belt water pump, radiators I replaced. A LOT of cars the fan will not come on just idling with the hood up and you staring at it. I made a 15 to 20 minute video I was going to post just to show everybody but it seem so stupid to post I did not. The only 99.99% way I ever found to test the cooling fans automatically kick on is to warm the car up by driving it. After the car is warm go to a freeway that has a on ramp and off ramp close by. Accelerate WOT on the on ramp, take the off ramp which is close by, repeat twice, on the last off ramp pull over some where safe, pop the hood raise your rpm to 3000 rpm. your fans should kick on very soon.
If you're geek wire a up a 12v led light test light to your fan. You can just tape the light to your windshield. Go for a hard drive and you will see your light kick on/off.

Re: Radiator Fan not turning on
Apparently doublezerohatch was correct and my engine just wasn't getting hot enough. The fan FINALLY came on today for like 10 seconds lol. I have an aftermarket radiator by fluidyne and I now assume that its just REALLY efficient. Thanks though. I like that light on the windshield idea btw. Im geeky enough to try that sometime.
