Question about wiring harness connectors/gauges
Hello. I am finishing a D16z6 swap and found two of the connectors on my OBD1 wiring harness broke and I am wondering what they do. I plan to replace them asap but want to know:
1- What do they do exactly?
2- Can I safely drive the car without them connected until I find replacements?
I have circled the two connectors I am talking about. They should connect to the block directly underneath the distributor if I circled the right ones. One is a 2 pin connector and the other is a female type that slides onto a metal nub.
(That is not my harness. That picture came from norcalcrx.org and is the best picture I could find. I just circled the connectors in question. Thanks to them for the pic)
Sub Question:
When I start the car the engine feels like it's idling fine but the tach shows 1500rpm and the speedometer shows I'm going 15mph (even though I am stationary). Any idea what would cause this? Everything worked perfectly before the swap and I even took the complete speed sensor and connector from the previous transmission.
Major thanks to anyone who helps. I'm hoping to be driving this car tonight or tomorrow if possible.
