Problem with Clicking Noise
I am not very knowledgeable in cars but I am Honda all the way. I have been having a clicking noise occur underneath of my car (96 Civic EX Auto Coupe). It occurs at random times but mostly when i hit a small bump on the left side or turn the car and go up a steep incline. My girlfriend's brother (whose running his 95 del sol at 323k miles lol) said it could be CV joint but it would be clicking anytime I turn? Does it sound from what ive said like itd be the CV joint? its occuring on the left hand side and sounds like its coming from right behind the front drivers side tire. But, No idea what it is unless i get under there.

Sounds like a CV joint, does it do it whenever you turn or only going uphill? Also have you inspected the boot over the joint to see if it is torn?

Re: Problem with Clicking Noise
Other than the CV joint...maybe it is the exhaust hitting the frame? It is a little bit of long shot if you have a stock exhaust system...but just giving out ideas.

Re: Problem with Clicking Noise
i have not checked the boot but i will later today to see. the exhaust was aftermarket when i bought it but i backed into my moms car and it bent the exhaust to a 90 degree angle. i took it in and had someone put on an entire new exhaust from cat back, maybe he did something with it idk but i'm gonna get under it this weekend and see what it is. On average, how much would a replacement CV joint cost?

Re: Problem with Clicking Noise
the exhaust would be more of a knocking sound...but sound is relative to the person hearing it.
If you do it yourself, a new CV joint from a parts store...lets say GSP or EMPI brand...should be around $100...then you just have to put the labor in. Which is not a whole bunch.
