power steering swap?
i just bought a 94 del sol with no power steering, im wondering approximately how much it would cost to convert to power steering and if it is worth the effort. any imput would help!

Swap the steering rack, get a power steering pump, hose, resivoir and belt. Not that difficult, but not really worth it IMO..

Alot more than you might want to spend, first you have to get a rackinpion, then power steering pump and so on and so on. Why do you want power steering, only slows you down?j/k
I think it's going to run you about $1k-2k.

Are you sure that it's not a P/S rack with the pump, resevoir, etc...removed? Some people just loop the P/S rack so it can feel as if it has P/S with some better steering response.
If it is a manual rack, you will need to find a good, salvageable P/S rack, resevoir, pump, lines, etc...
Do some more research and check if it's a straight swap or if other steering components are needed.

umm no, it doesnt feel like power steering with better response. it feels like no power steering with a quicker turning radius
not only will you have to get a power steering rack and pinion, you'll need to put on the new tie rod ends and get the thing realigned (thats if you cant do it yourself). changing that thing with regular hand tools sucks too.
everyone says 1-2k. but you can take your time and piece it together for prolly around 500 bucks. i pieced one together a while back for like 50 bucks. friend of a friend got rear ended and parted out the car. so it really depends on how you find your parts

There's a different feel from a looped P/S rack to a non-PS rack. What I'm trying to say.

exactly. thats the only reason a looped and a non ps rack feel a tad different.
