Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
ok good question, this one has the power mirror switch in the dash like my 98 right? I didnt see in the how to where he ran the wiring to this switch, was the wiring already behind the switch and then changing the floor harness took advantage of it being there, or did you run the switch wiring? and for someone who takes great pride in properly wrapping and routing wiring harnesses, this guy was an idiot for just zip tieing the hatch wires onto the loom with nothing to protect them, if he went to the trouble to unwrap them, how long would it have taken to put some spiral wrap around them and tape them? ok rant over, OP if the switch wiring already existed, and the door lock wiring from one door to the other is part of the dash harness, then thats where the issue is, I'm assuming the harnesses went in and the wiring that crosses over inside the car is part of the dash harnesses?

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
I unplugged the passenger side and it still clicked so I am eliminating that side, also tried two different door harness on the driver side and it did it.
also the mirror switch is in the dash that is correct this hatch is a 97.
I did not run any of my own wiring its all OEM only thing I did was a stereo install which was real basic.
and I have a rywire engine harness

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
let me clarify, is the floor harness two pieces that plug into the dash harness on either side with the mirror switch wiring already in existence? if it is there may be a mirror switch wire in the dash that is touching one of the wires going to the door lock control module

it's just hard to figure this out over the net, if I was actually there looking at the car I would already have this figured out

I will check the mirror wiring where the switch plugs into, it is either part of the floor harness or dash harness.
I totally understand the seeing it in person thing.

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
have you ever swapped the door lock control module? I've seen control modules that are failing and respond to changes in system voltage by doing strange stuff, let me look at the diagrams in that post again, the mirror wiring should have a simple power wire and ground, and the three wires that go to the mirror on each side are isolated from everything else.

everyone said the dash harness shouldn't effect this problem it is driving me crazy I am very ocd I want this car like OEM.

if the mirror wiring and the power lock wiring share part of the dash harness, then it's very possible one could have a wire shorted to the other.

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
this should be the actual cabin harness routing, check 11 which is a ground, should be near the drivers seat, it's hard to tell on a small diagram but it looks like some of the wiring does cross over the car in the dash harness

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
I blew it up and there is a ground bolt 11, on both sides of that harness it appears, actually 3 one is in the floor harness routing down near the floor

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
the door harness themselves dont have any metal loops to ground just connectors
but I do vaguely remember the metal loop for the floor harness

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
it has to be a mirror switch wire touching a lock wire, I dont know what else it could be, the only thing the mirror circuit and lock circuit seem to share is a power wire and possibly a ground, the wires going to the mirrors are completely isolated from everything else. they both go through the door grommet and maby a couple of wires are slightly cut or something

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
what you are going to have to do, is disconnect the battery, and for each wire going to the mirror switch, probe all the lock wires of the side acting up, to see if you get continuity between any of them and one of the mirror wires, you can stick a sewing needle in the mirror switch plug for each wire and use an alligator clip

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
Pinouts on the door harness to door plug change from year to year.
Check it, I bet you that it's the wrong one for your car or the door has been changed and is the wrong one.
The only solution if that is the case is to repin the harness.

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
I was thinking of doing just that with the needle and probing etc. It is weird though what could be cut the floor harness is brand new. I was going to call a place up on monday to see of they wanted to look at it they wire up racing Hondas and build harness from the ground up I think they might know.

Re: Power Mirror Switch Triggering Power Door Locks
the wiring for the mirrors doesn't change, since both mirrors function, that means the power and ground to the mirror switch, as well as the three wires to each mirror is correct. other then adding anything to the basic mirror wiring, I dont even think the color codes to the mirror wires have changed since the 80's, they function exactly the same way. all three wires to each mirror should be isolated from anything else by the switch, so a door lock actuator moving when pressing the mirror switch indicates the wiring is compromised somewhere in the harness
