Default PCV valve?

Where is the pcv valve on a 98 Civic EX is it the little black box looking thing that is bolted on to the fuel rail. I have a repair manual but it doesnt have a clear pic of the pcv valve on my make and model. Any info will help.

Im sorry but I dont really know what the breather chamber is maybe it is that I just call it something else. I still cant find the damn pcv valve. I dont have the Helms manual I got the cheaper manual from Advance Auto it is called a Haynes and it doesnt have a really good explanation of where it is I dont see any hoses leading to the valve. Where the hell is it Im sure Im just looking over it.

You will see a black rubber hose about the diameter of a dime that goes to your intake manifold. Follw this hose. The pcv valve is at the other end of it.If you look under neath your car to the right of the oil filter is a black box (breather chamber). The pcv valve is towards the top left of the chamber. Why do you need this info anyhow- your PCV valve is most likely fine.

Ok I finally found the pcv valve the reason I didnt see it was the oil filter was in the way. I took it off the car and looked at it and did the shake test and it is supposed to rattle but I really didnt hear any rattle so I guess Im gonna try to replace it tomorrow. I hope this might solve my idle problem.

There is a spring that holds the valve closed- look through the valve- if you can see through it- it is bad. If you are going to replace it, be sure to get a HONDA piece. I doubt it is bad

I think Im gonna replace it because it doesnt rattle when I shake it and I cant see through it like you said. What would make the pcv valve go bad is there something that I need to check into as to why this pcv valve went bad?

you should NOT be able to see through it. IT is a spring loaded valve that has a very light pintle in it that may not rattle when shook- take a small paperclip or what not and see if you can open the valve with it. IF it is difficult it is probably gunked up with crap and needs cleaned or you can just replace it and get on with the next problem.

I replace quite a few on late 80's accords- and I've seen a few on early 5g civics. Usually people that don't change their oil enough get pcv valves that stick and deteriorate.

I went ahead and replaced it I always change my oil somewhere between every 2000-3000. I cant figure out this damn idle problem for anything it is about to drive me crazy. It idles up when I first crank it up and then one it heats up I can cut the car off and start again to lower the idle a little bit maybe to 1500 rpm's where it was at 2000 rpm's or a little above. What the hell is doing this. I cant find any vacuum leaks anywhere I replaced the iac valve, pcv valve,tb gasket, intake manifold gasket, head gasket, etc I didnt do all that to lower the idle but It is all new. What is causeing this stupid idle problem?

My buddy had idle problems when he installed his Jacobs ignition box, could it possibly be your msd?
Also can you check to see if maybe there are any engine codes popping up?
