Re: Parking on unleveled ground affect shocks?
The only thing a damper (aka shock absorber) does is prevent the spring from unnecessary oscillations. Without a damper the spring would want to bounce back and forth.
When parked the wheels may be at different relative positions within the range of suspension movement due to uneven ground, settling of the car after the parking brake has been set, etc.
Most cars seem to lean towards the driver's side. The springs may have "settled" into that position because they stay compressed at a certain rate for a long time. This is similar to magazine springs becoming "tired" when an ammunition magazine of a gun is left full and the spring stays fully compressed for long periods of time. When rounds are fired the magazine may fail to feed subsequent rounds because the spring will not return to it's "unsprung position" (ie, empty magazine).
