P1457 Leak in canister area
I have a 98 Honda civic lx. Stock. 68k miles, purchased just over a year ago.
I have a P1457 code telling me i have a EVAP system leak in the canister area.
There was a problem with my voltage regulater awhile back, and the battery at one point was being overcharged....so much so that the caps blew off and battery acid got into sprayed into the area around the battery, including around the canister area. Not sure if anything was damaged, but everything looks to be ok.
I have also developed a problem with the engine starting...the car will crank fine, but just as i release the ignition key, the car dies. the only way around this is to floor the accelerator. [I]most[I] of the time this works.
glancing through posts on here, I am thinking there might be a problem with the evap/vacuum system that is causing both the check engine light, and starting probs?
