Default Overheating Issues. Helpp!

I have a 2000 civic ex. Radiator seems to be working fine but after about 5mins of driving car overheats and when idle the engine starts to rev by itself it sounds pretty bad. Also before the fan did not turn on at all so i wired the fan to turn on whenever the car is on. But i still have the same overheating problem. Any suggestions. Thanks.

leaking coolant anywhere, radiator cap which does have a big in packed if it cannot hold its proper pressure. Thermostat could also be stuck closed let the motor warm up and check to see if the bottom hose after motor is warmed up is hot if its not then you definitely now that your thermostat has gone bad.

No there isnt coolant leaking anywhere. Okay so check if the bottom radiator hose is hot. if so change the thermostat? If the hose is colder then the top(as it should be) is there any other suggestions you might have? could the thermostat also cause the rev problem while idle also?

No if the bottom radiator hose does not become hot after motor is warmed up then that tells you the thermostat is stuck closed you should have cooling going the that bottom hose after engine is warmed if the the thermostat is working properly. I dont now to be honest if the thermostat could cause the motor do rev like that
