Opening hood with a screwdriver? (broken cable)
Yeah so my cable **** out on me today... I did a search and seen alot of relocations, alot of hoods not closing but not alot of hoods being stuck with broken cables, AND explaining how to get the hood open.
I know it involves a screwdriver and getting underneath the car I just dont know where to go from there. I can get a flat head between the hood and get the safety release up, but the lock itself I have no clue. Thanks for any info as its the first time its happened to me..

I actually was working on my car aside from that and rolled it back in neutral only to hear a wierd sound and look to find that somehow my tire snatched up the cable and snagged the **** out of it. Pretty much shredded one portion of it. I was able to pull it back into place and ghetto rig it. But i did order a new one already. I think i will just relocate it now...

Re: Opening hood with a screwdriver? (broken cable)
Okay, I realize this is old, but hopefully it can help someone. Here is the easy way that takes less than a minute (it took me 15 minutes today to figure it out). Did a radiator on my gf's 00 coupe on Wednesday, was checking fluid today and hood wouldn't open. Latch cable had detached from latch.
You need a flashlight and a Looooong stiff instrument (I used a round metal file about the diameter of a PH2 screwdriver shaft).
Facing the car, go in from the top right side of the Honda emblem. You should be able to see the moving part of the latching mechanism on/near the right. Push it slightly back and to the left while lightly lifting up on the hood. Voila.
