Default Oil grades Question... 1993 Honda Del Sol recommends 5W 30 is it ok to use 5W 20?

Oil grades Question... I have a 1993 Del Sol it uses 5W 30 and our other two 2001 Hondas use 5W 20. Is it ok to run 5W 20 in the Del Sol. I think it should be alright but want to be sure before doing so.

Please only respond if you are knowledgeable about hondas and oil grades. If possible provide a site for Honda and oil grades.

Thanks for the input.

oil depends on where you live and the conditions around you. why not just 5w-30?

i wouldnt use 5w-20 theres really no point it is a thinner oil and is basically coming out for the new fords and newer honda's. if you want a better oil then 5w-30 you can get synthetic 5w-30 or 10w-30 summer is almost over so you can just stick to 5w-30 theres no point to switch to 5w-20. Any reason why you want to switch?

it wont hurt your car if you switch if thats what your aiming at.

I run 10/30 or 10/40. I will never run 5/3j0 or 5/20 because it is too thin for my liking. The only reason I would run that thin of oil would be if I drove the car in 30degf or less. A thicker oil will stay in the bearings better thus reducing friction. If you want an oil chart, get a haynes manual and look in the first few pages. They have what grade of oil is best for what temperatures. I know its different with difefrent auto makers because I had a dodge ram 50 and then a civic manual and the scales were different. Also if you had hydrualic lifters(which you don't) then I would be worried about running too thick of an oil, but unless you go pass a straight 30 weight, you shouldn't have a problem.
